The Montparnasse was introduced in 1989 by S.T. Dupont as their premier fountain pen model.
The section of the fountain pen is internal, Dupont devised a specially designed swing-out handle that sits on the base of the barrel and allows for the section to be unscrewed from the barrel - once again, inspiration from their lighter range.
